Westmoreland Women’s Health and Fitness Award 2014 to ESCAIn 1996, the YWCA established the women’s Health and Fitness Awards as part of its recognition program. It is to be awarded to an individual, organization or business that has made significant contributions to the community in the area of women’s health and fitness or promotion of women in sports. The YWCA is proud to present this award to ESCA in Murrysville. PA.

Colleen Bortz, a volunteer with the program, recognized a need for exercise and self expression in individuals at ESCA. She developed an adaptive drumming exercise class. The innovative program features movement and rhythm that incorporates aerobic activity, balance and mental stimulation through the use of drumsticks on large balance balls. The program brings great joy to the participants while helping them to develop physical, intellectually and emotionally. Colleen’s Drumstix Exercise Program sponsored by ESCA is one of the favorite events at the Clelian Heights Center in Greensburg.
